Reports are coming to us from every part of the globe about thousands coming to the Lord and miracles that are
happening in India, Poland, Ireland and other nations to confirm God’s word according to Mark 16: 17-19. Since April 1st this year, thousands have packed a converted storefront Church in Lakeland, Florida. The meetings have now moved into an 8000 seat arena. Could this be the major spiritual outpouring we have prayed for?
I have watched the services on God TV by internet and I can verify with Ron McGatlin, OpenHeaven.com that “there is an almost palpable sense of expectation in the meetings. Wild stories of healings have been lighting up the “blogosphere,” with reports of permanent scars disappearing off bodies and tumors disintegrating in stomachs.”
In support of what is happening are John Kilpatrick, Steve Hill, and other noted men of God. Charisma Magazine and Openheaven.com also endorse the meetings. One of Openheaven’s ministers reported: “Recently, in worship, I saw a river approaching very fast and it was burning with fire. The outpouring is one of both fire and Spirit-empowered water of the Word in a way never before seen in church as we know it. Daniel’s vision of the Lord states: “A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him.”
God is doing a new thing in the earth--we must be aware of it. This is not like the revivals that we have experienced
before. The whole earth shall be filled with the KNOWLEDGE of His glory!”
On a more sober note, Jesus told us to “be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Therefore let us not be gullible, but we should be careful not to speak harm on the meetings and be aware that a prophet cannot be judged by the friends he keeps (no explanations needed). Many misjudged the charismatic revival in the 60’s because fakes were involved. But the move turned the tide from riots in the streets to revival, and hippies in rebellion against all authority became THE JESUS PEOPLE. During that time over 25 million people were converted and filled with the Holy Spirit from every walk of life and from every denomination.
Some ministers are warning against those who give weird reports of seeing angels in the meetings. If we think the
Lakeland reports of angels is weird, what should we think about Isaiah’s experience with angels in Isaiah 6 and Ezekiel’s weird experiences with angels in Ezekiel 10 and other chapters. Supernatural activities of angels are recorded in the book of Acts over 20 times. So I believe some of the testimonies in Lakeland are genuine and some are probably fake. Some of the acts of ministers in the 60’s were real and some we discovered were fake. (Read my book: FROM GLORY TO GLORY for the stories). With every genuine move of God come the flakes and the satanic. Paul tells us in 1 Thess 5:19-22 “Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. ” Billy Graham said at the beginning of the charismatic renewal in 1963: “Something is happening and I believe it is God.” He could have said: “Most of it is of God.”
I recently witnessed a powerful miracle at King’s Way Church in Pensacola when the Spirit came upon Jennifer Curry, the pastor’s wife, and healed her of scoliosis of the spine. She was pushed around the auditorium by what she called “a strong wind of the Spirit.” It was awesome to see. I am not an expert on spiritual outpourings, but I sincerely believe God is presently moving in great power. I surely do not want to hype what I see happening, Most of those who know me well say I am rather reserved and not given to hype or deception. But this I know: I am hungry and I’m seeking for more of God’s presence.
Let us remember that Peter quoted Joel about
a great outpouring of the Spirit in the last days followed by awesome judgments. (Acts 2:17-20; and Joel 2). Could this present outpouring be the prelude to Armageddon? Just asking! I recommend reading three novels by Joel Rosenberg: THE LAST JIHAD, THE EZEKIEL OPTION and DEAD HEAT. Mr. Rosenberg is not a gospel minister but is a brilliant conservative Christian author and an advisor to leaders in Israel. He is highly respected by members of Congress and other men in “high places” in this nation. He recently appeared on Glenn Beck’s CNN program to talk about Armageddon and the second coming of Christ. I taped it on DVD if you ever want to see and hear it.
